Hudson House almost had a different builder.
When we first began planning Hudson House, Craig wasn't part of the story.
Like many custom home projects, ours changed over time. What we expected would be a straightforward journey became a years-long process of navigating approvals, redesigns, and the unique requirements of building within Greenville's Historic Preservation Overlay District.
During that time, our original builder made a difficult but admirable decision. After years of waiting for approvals, he recognized that the project's uncertain timeline no longer aligned with the commitments he had made to his existing clients. Rather than stretching himself too thin, he stepped away so he could continue serving them well.
While disappointing in the moment, we respected that decision.
Looking back, it created the opportunity to find the builder Hudson House was always meant to have.
Finding the Right One

What drew you to Hudson House?
One of the most exciting elements of being a builder is seeing your work come to life. Whether you are doing a renovation or a ground up build, you get to build something that changes a person's life for the better. I love the work involved in buidling a home, but the relationships you build with the client are what you remember. I knew Charles and Tiffane as neighbors and friends before I had heard about Hudson House. When I did hear about their vision for Hudson House, I knew I had to be a part of it, because of the people that they are. Charles and Tiffane are incredible humans and I am honored to be a part of this journey with them.
What was the most interesting challenge, and how did you approach it?
I am new to Greenville and many are not going to recognize my builder sign at a jobsite. Luckily, Charles and Tiffane got to see me pour my heart into my family's home build. This is the approach I take with every project I take on, because I know I am building something extremely important for my client and I know how essential my home is to my family.
What do you hope people notice when Hudson House is complete?
I have no doubt Greenville will notice the work Charles and Tiffane put into Hudson House to make it perfect. They spent years planning, changing, adapting to new challenges just to break ground. I feel like I have the easy part of making their vision reality.
What's one piece of advice you'd give someone beginning a similar journey?
Hudson House is not a temporary placeholder, it is Charles and Tiffane's forever home. And they put the time in to ensure it is exactly what their growing family will need now and in the future. Some people may just see another house being built, but it is so much more than that because of the vision behind it. Charles and Tiffane recognize the importance of a family having a home they love. For someone starting a similiar journey, follow their example of putting in the work now to create something you will be proud of. Recognize that you are building something that will be part of your family long after you are gone.
